The department of English aims to inculcate love for language and literature, nurturing literary sensibility, creativity, language competence and stirs critical thinking through teaching and research in order to make itself a center for academic excellence.
1. To strengthen listening skill, speaking skill, reading skill and writing skill
2. To prepare students for career and higher education
3. To strive to make students good citizen of the larger community
4. To acquaint students with the various concept of English literature
5. To develop the appreciation, connotations and interpretation of English Literature
6. To sensitise students to the aesthetic, cultural, historical and social aspect of literature
7. To provide students a hand on experience to study literature further
